READING AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES-

Minutes from the 1/4/2018 meeting were approved as submitted.

MUSIC DIRECTORS’ REPORTS:

Foster brought up the Colorado Composers Concert next year; keep it in mind as something we may be able to participate in.

Rick requested approval to pay Adrian Montgomery’s company, Distant Peak Productions, LLC for his equipment and time filming a demo for the Jazz combo in the coming weeks. The filming session is to be required for Jazz Combo members, needs to include the group banner in the footage. Also discussed was a name/minor content change for the Intermediate Band. Possible new name to emphasize the basics nature of the group (Nicole suggested one possible name change as Instrumental Foundations). New format to focus more time on easy band arrangements rather than fundamental exercises.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT- Vern introduced Bobby DeRoo as our newest Board Member and Board Secretary. He also said that he may have another potential member for the Board. In the interest of time, Vern skipped to Bruce for his report.

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT- Roger, no report.

SECRETARY’S REPORT- Bobby, no report.

TREASURER’S REPORT- Tracy, absent.

OPERATION MANAGER’S REPORT- Bruce has submitted the final report for SCFD. All board members are encouraged to attend the meeting on Feb. 10th to discuss. Intermediate Band advertising hasn’t been very successful. There apparently is an existing Google calendar on the website that conflicts with the proposed joint calendar with MHCB, NHS, and RRCC. Bruce is checking with web designer Mary on this.

OLD BUSINESS-

SCFD planning meeting date and time: Meeting to be held on Feb. 10th at Panera Bread on 38th from 10AM to 1PM.

NEW BUSINESS-

Scholarships: Scholarships were approved for 10 band members. Each approved scholarship recipient will be expected to help with tasks from a to-be-established list, including setting up banners, running sound, moving percussion equipment, and providing sheet music backup for Alyse.

Conductor positions and pay: Board agreed that Foster deserved to be paid for his current voluntary conducting responsibilities. A $40 per rehearsal/concert rate passed by board - his full director pay to still be given for nights when he covers for Mike.

ADJOURN: The meeting was adjourned at 9:35PM.
